Shifter M/T: Adjustments






Shift Mechanism, Adjusting

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Locking pin (T10027 A)

The following points are essential to ensure correct shift adjustment:

Operating and transfer elements of shift mechanism must be in proper condition.

Shift mechanism must move freely.

The transmission, clutch and clutch mechanism must be in proper condition.

Transmission in neutral position.

- Remove air filter housing if bracket - A - and securing mechanism from shift cable and selector lever cable are not accessible through it.





- Pull locking mechanism on shift cable and selector cable forward in direction of - arrow 1 - up to stop and then turn it toward the left in direction of - arrow 2 - to lock it.





Secure shift rod as follows:





- Press down selector shaft direction of - arrow 1 -.

- While pressing down selector shaft, rotate bracket - A - upward in direction of - arrow 2 - and simultaneously press it in carefully until it engages in selector shaft.

- Boot with shifter knob and noise insulation, removing and installing. --> [ Boot with Shifter Knob and Noise Insulation ] Boot with Shifter Knob and Noise Insulation

- If equipped, remove noise insulation.

Set shift lever as follows:

- Move shift lever to neutral position.

- Guide connecting pin (T10027 A) through hole - A - and into hole - B -.





- Now turn locking mechanism on shift cable and selector cable toward the right in direction of - arrow - up to stop.





The spring presses locking mechanism into initial position.

- Now rotate the bracket - A - back into the initial position in direction of - arrow -.





- Pull connecting pin out of holes - A - and - B -.





- If equipped, install noise insulation.

- Boot with shifter knob and noise insulation, removing and installing. --> [ Boot with Shifter Knob and Noise Insulation ] Boot with Shifter Knob and Noise Insulation

- Install entire air filter housing

Function

In neutral, the shift lever must rest in 3rd/4th gear gate.

- Actuate clutch.

- Select all gears several times. Pay particular attention to the operation of the reverse gear lock.

- Should a gear fail to engage smoothly after repeated selection, adjust shift mechanism again --> [ Shift Mechanism, Adjusting ] Adjustments.
