Disable the airbag system before attempting any component diagnosis or service of the front seats, when equipped with front seat air bags. Disconnect the negative battery cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.

Removing






- Remove the outboard seat cushion side shield. Refer to => [ Seat Cushion Side Shield, Outboard ] Seat Cushion Side Shield, Outboard.

- If servicing the riser or seat track, position the seat so that the heads of the bolts which secure the rear of the seat riser to the track can be accessed.

- Disconnect the negative battery cable, if equipped with power seats..

- Remove the plug (1) from the spare tire winch access hole (2).

- Lower the spare tire approximately 46 cm (18 in).

- Raise and suitably support the vehicle.

- Position the spare tire cover out of the way and remove the nuts securing the front seat risers to the floor panel.






- Lower the vehicle.

- Partially tip the seat (1) rearward and disconnect the wire harness connectors (2), as equipped.

- Remove seat from vehicle.

Installing






- Place the seat (1) into the vehicle.

- Tip the seat rearward and connect the wire connectors (2), as equipped.

- Place the seat riser studs into openings in the floor.

- Raise and support the vehicle.

- Install the nuts securing the seat track to the floor panel. Tighten the nuts to 88 Nm (65 ft lbs).

- Install the spare tire cover.






- Lower the vehicle.

- Raise the spare tire.

- Install the plug (1) into the spare tire winch access hole (2).

- Install the outboard seat cushion side shield. Refer to => [ Seat Cushion Side Shield, Outboard ] Seat Cushion Side Shield, Outboard.

- Connect the negative battery cable, if equipped with power seats..
