Upper Intake Manifold

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Socket 14 mm (3150)

Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

Ratchet, Reversible (V.A.G 1331/1)

Socket Insert AF 14 (V.A.G 1331/8)

Removing

CAUTION!
Follow the guidelines for a clean working environment when working on the fuel system. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions and Fuel System Work Instructions ] Clean Working Conditions and Fuel System Work Instructions.

Always follow these rules before and during work.

- Remove the engine cover.

- Remove the oil dipstick - 1 - out of the guide tube.





- Remove the coolant hose by loosening the hose clamp - 3 -.

- Remove bolts - 2 - and disconnect the harness connector - 4 -.

- Remove the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor (J338) - 5 -.

- Remove the bolts - arrows - and the left front engine lifting eye - 1 -.





- Remove the bolts - arrows - and the clamps.





- Loosen the union fittings - 1 and 4 - and remove the high pressure line.

Ignore - Items 2 and 3 -.

- Remove the engine cover ball studs - 1 and 2 -.





- Remove the bolts - arrows - and the upper intake manifold.

Installing

Installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

For tightening specifications, refer to => [ Intake Manifold Overview ] Description and Operation.

Replace the seals and O-rings.

Hose connections and charge air system hoses must be free of oil and grease before installing.

Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model type, refer to the parts catalog.

To mount the charge hoses on their connectors securely, spray the bolts on the used clamps with rust remover before installing.

- Install the high pressure line.
