Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)
• Used Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782)
• Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051)
• Drip Tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)
• Adapter for Oil Filling (VAS 6262)
• Adapter for Filling ATF Oil (VAS 6262/2)
Use the ATF available as a replacement part.
- When checking the ATF level, always replace the seal - arrow - on the inspection plug.
Checking
- Turn off the engine.
The ATF temperature must not be more than approximately 30 °C (86 °F) at the start of the test.
• Transmission is not in emergency running mode, and ATF temperature is not higher than 30 °C (86 °F).
• Vehicles is must be on a flat level surface.
• The selector level is in the "P" position.
- Connect the tester and move through the selections until it is ready for operation. Refer to => [ Tester, Connecting ] Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.

If the test temperature 35 to 45 °C (95 to 113 °F) is displayed:
- Remove the inspection plug - arrow - in the oil pan.
ATF flows out of the overflow pipe.
If the ATF continues to leak out of the overflow pipe:
The ATF does not need to be topped off.
- Install the inspection plug with a new seal and tighten it to 27 Nm. The ATF level test is now completed.
If no ATF drips out of the overflow pipe:
- Fill the ATF. Refer to => [ Filling ].
Filling
- Install and tighten the (VAS 6262/2) to the inspection plug hole hand tight with the engine running.
- Fill with 1 liter of ATF.
- Tighten the (VAS 6262) to the quick release coupling and check:
If the ATF flows out of the hole:
The ATF does not need to be topped off.
- Allow the ATF to drain until it drips.
- Install and tighten the inspection plug with a new seal to 27 Nm. The ATF level test is now completed.
If the ATF does not drip:
- Fill with another liter.
CAUTION!
Too little or too much ATF will impair the transmission. If 2 liters are missing, you should check the transmission more closely. There is probably a larger leak.
