Clutch Pedal Assembly: Description and Operation

Clutch Pedal Overview

• Obtain the anti-theft code for the radio before disconnecting the battery.

• Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery ground cable.

• Lubricate all bearing areas and contact surfaces.

• Grease allocation, refer to the Parts Catalog.






1 Bulkhead

• With studs for the mounting bracket.

2 Gasket

• Always replace.

• Between the mounting bracket and bulkhead.

• With self-adhesive.

• Attached to the mounting bracket.

3 Mounting Bracket

• For the clutch pedal.

• Some versions have a sound absorber.

• Removing and installing, refer to the following:

4 Bolt

5 Over-Center Spring

• Removing and installing, refer to the following:

Eos, Passat and CC, refer to => [ Over-Center Spring ] Over-Center Spring.

6 Bushing

8 Clutch Pedal

• Removing and installing, refer to the following:

9 Mount

• To remove and install, detach the master cylinder from the clutch pedal the clutch pedal removal and Installation procedure.

• Removing and installing,

10 Gasket

• Always replace.

• Between the master cylinder and the mounting bracket.

11 Master Cylinder

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Clutch Master Cylinder ] Service and Repair.

12 Clutch Position Sensor (G476)

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Clutch Position Sensor G476 ] Service and Repair.

• Can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the vehicle diagnostic tester.

• The clutch position sensor is called the clutch pedal switch in "Guided Fault Finding".

13 Clip

• To remove and install the hose/line assembly or pipe, pull the clip all the way out.

14 Supply Hose

• Made of either rubber or plastic.

• GTI (2006-2009) from 12.05, plastic on some vehicles.

• Golf/GTI (from 2010), made of plastic.

• Passat and Eos, made of plastic from approximately 12.05.

• CC, made of plastic.

15 Self-Locking Nut

• 25 Nm

• Always replace.

• Quantity: 3

• For the mounting bracket to the bulkhead

16 Nut

• 25 Nm

• Always replace.

17 Jounce Bumper

• For the clutch pedal.
