NOx Reduction Catalytic Converter

NOx Reduction Catalytic Converter

The "NOx reducing agent AUS 32" (AdBlue(R)) is simply called reducing agent in the following information.

The reducing agent can irritate skin, eyes and the respiratory system.

If the fluid comes into contact with skin, rinse the affected area immediately with plenty of water.

If necessary, consult a physician.

Protect the connectors, for example with a plastic bag or cable tie, before they become coated with reducing agent. The connectors could be damaged because the reducing agent has a tendency to seep and it crystallizes.

Seal all openings on the line and the connections immediately with plugs to prevent contaminants from entering. Even tiny particles can cause serious damage to the system.

Make sure the reducing agent does not come into contact with clothing or the vehicle body.

If this occurs, wash immediately with clean water and then dry with a lint-free cotton cloth.

If the reducing agent has already crystallized, use warm water and a sponge.

Reducing agent that is not removed will crystallize and can damage the affected surface.

Removing

- Release and disconnect the connector - 4 - from the reducing agent injector - 2 -.

- Unclip the wiring harness on the bracket.

The clamp - 1 - for the reducing agent injector must not be opened.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following.

Pay attention to the installed position of the wiring harness.

When installing, bring all cable ties back to same positions.

Installing the Seal between the Exhaust Door Control Unit and the NOx Reduction Catalytic Converter/Exhaust Pipe

- Insert the seal - 2 - with the angled tab - B - in the notch - A - on the NOx reduction catalytic converter - 1 -.

- Insert the exhaust door control unit - 3 - with the retaining tab - C - in the notch - A -.

Installed Position of the Clamps between the Exhaust Door Control Unit and the NOx Reduction Catalytic Converter/Exhaust Pipe

- Insert the new securing clamps so that the clamping bolt is positioned opposite the housing for the exhaust door control unit and the angle - 45° ± 10° - is fixed.

- Install the exhaust system free of stress. Refer to => [ Exhaust System, Installing ] Removal and Replacement.
