Dual Mass Flywheel

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Puller (T40176)

Grease for Clutch Disc Shaft Splines (G 000 100)

Removing

The transmission is secured on the Engine and Transmission Holder (VAS 6095). Refer to => [ Transmission, Securing to Engine and Transmission Holder ] Transmission, Securing to Engine and Transmission Holder.

- Remove left drive flange. Refer to => [ Left Flange Shaft ] Left Flange Shaft.

- Secure the Extractor (T40176) to the dual-mass flywheel - A - with nut - B -- arrows -.





- Rotate the Extractor (T40176) upward.





To prevent the dual-mass flywheel from tilting, counterhold it underneath as illustrated.

- Remove the dual-mass flywheel from the input shaft - arrows -.

Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

- Always clean the transmission housing in the area where the differential is accessed - arrow A - and the shaft seal - arrow B -.





Replace the shaft seal between the differential and transmission housing - arrow B - if it is damaged. Refer to => [ Left Flange Shaft Seal ] Left Flange Shaft Seal.

- Fill area between sealing lip and dust lip halfway with Sealing Grease (G 052 128 A1).

- Clean the input shaft - arrow -.





- Lightly grease the input shaft splines with Clutch Disc Spline Grease (G 000 100).

- Carefully mount the dual mass flywheel onto the input shaft - arrow - without tilting it.





- Remove Extractor (T40176) from the dual mass flywheel - A -.





- Install left flange shaft. Refer to => [ Left Flange Shaft ] Left Flange Shaft.
