Components In Rear

Observe the notes regarding the A/C system => [ A/C System Control and Regulation Components Inside Passenger Compartment ] A/C System Control and Regulation Components Inside Passenger Compartment.

1 Rear A/C Display Control Head (E265)

The rear A/C unit and the rear A/C display control head are optional equipment.

Allocation for various versions (for vehicles without or with seat heating / seat ventilation, with and without rear A/C system). Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

Removal and installation, refer to => [ Rear A/C Control Head (E265) ] Rear A/C Control Head (E265).

There is currently no child safety planned for the rear A/C display control head (introduction not yet finalized). If the child safety system for the rear A/C display control head is offered in the future and is active in the vehicle, the setting of the rear A/C system and the seat heating/seat ventilation cannot be changed by the rear A/C display control head (when a button or rotary switch is operated, three lines appear in both displays). The settings can then only be modified via the Climatronic control module (J255) front A/C display control head and the MMI Terminal. Refer to the Owner's manual.

Also observe the additional information regarding the rear A/C display control head, refer to => [ Rear A/C Control Head (E265) ] Rear A/C Control Head (E265).

Perform the Guided Fault Finding of the rear A/C display control head using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

Buttons and display fields are illuminated by Light Emitting Diodes (LED), cannot be replaced.

When replacing the rear A/C display control head, ensure correct allocation with respect to the Climatronic control module (J255). If the allocation is incorrect, various functions of the rear A/C system, for example, may not be able to be displayed and selected. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog.

Certain A/C system functions can be switched on and off via the MMI (Multi Media Interface) under the "A/C system" function in the "car"/"car systems" menu. The A/C system control can also be influenced via presettings in the MMI (Multi Media Interface) under the "A/C system" function in the "car"/"car systems" menu. Therefore, first check the presetting in the MMI in the case of a problem with these components, refer to Infotainment/MMI operating instructions.

Check using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

The seat heating and seat ventilation are activated depending on the vehicle equipment and version via different control modules. Refer to => [ Seat Heating and Ventilation, Checking ] Seat Heating and Ventilation, Checking, and the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function (for the vehicle electrical system control module, memory seat/steering column adjustment control module, and front passenger memory seat control module, depending on the vehicle).

Repair the seat heating and the seat ventilation.

For information about seat heating and seat ventilation, refer to => [ Seat Heating and Ventilation, Checking ] Seat Heating and Ventilation, Checking.

If there is a condition in which the heating or ventilation of the seats cannot be switched on, this is stored as a malfunction in the vehicle electrical system control module (J519) , in the memory seat/steering column adjustment control module (J136) or in the front passenger memory seat control module (J521) (depending on the vehicle type and the vehicle equipment). In this vehicle, information stating that the event memory in the relevant control module or in the comfort system central control module (J393) needs to be read out is currently not sent via the data bus to the Climatronic control module/rear A/C display control head. Check using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function. In the event of a complaint regarding seat heating or seat ventilation, first check the event memory of the control modules activating the seat heating and seat ventilation.

The seat heating and seat ventilation setting is set on the Climatronic control module/rear A/C display control head. This setting is transmitted via the data bus to the vehicle electrical system control module. The specified temperatures for the different seat heating and seat ventilation settings are stored in the vehicle electrical system control module. Depending on the version of the vehicle electrical system control module and the vehicle production period, the target temperature for the seat heating and seat ventilation can differ with the same setting on the Climatronic control module/rear A/C display control head. Check using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function (also for the vehicle electrical system control module).
