Rear Compartment Lid Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: When a rear compartment lid hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

1. Open the rear compartment.
2. Remove the rear compartment lid finish panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement (Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement).
3. Remove the rear compartment lid manual release handle. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the rear compartment lid release actuator. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Actuator Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Remove the rear compartment lid latch. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. Remove the rear compartment lid ajar switch.
7. Remove the rear compartment lid applique. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Applique Replacement ().
8. Remove the high mount stoplamp. Refer to High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement in Lighting System.
9. Unclip the harness to remove electrical connectors from the rear compartment lid.




10. Mark the location of the rear compartment lid to the hinges.
11. Remove the nuts from the rear compartment lid hinges.
12. Remove the rear compartment lid with an assistant.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the rear compartment lid to the previously marked locations with an assistant.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the nuts to the rear compartment lid hinges.

Tighten the rear compartment lid hinge nuts to 29 Nm (21 lb ft).

3. Clip the harness to the inside of the rear compartment lid to install the electrical connector to the rear compartment lid.
4. Install the high mount stoplamp. Refer to High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement in Lighting System.
5. Install the rear compartment lid ajar switch.
6. Install the rear compartment lid latch. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Replacement (Service and Repair).
7. Install the rear compartment lid release actuator. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Actuator Replacement (Service and Repair).
8. Install the rear compartment lid manual release handle. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement (Service and Repair).
9. Install the rear compartment lid finish panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement (Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement).
10. Inspect the alignment of the rear compartment lid. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Adjustment (Adjustments).
11. Close the rear compartment.
