Shift Unit Overview

• Grease the mounting points and sliding surfaces.





1 Nut

• Removing and installing, refer to - item 17 -=> [ Self Locking Nut ] Shift Mechanism Overview.

2 Transmission Shift Lever

• Can be replaced with the shift mechanism installed.

• Installed position, refer to => [ Transmission Shift Lever/Relay
Lever, Installed Position ] Shift Mechanism Overview.

• Installing, refer to => [ Transmission Shift Lever,
Installing ] Shift Mechanism Overview.

• Adjust the shift mechanism after installation. Refer to => [ Shift Mechanism, Adjusting ] Adjustments.

3 Slide Shoe

• Clips into the relay lever.

4 Bushing

• Not needed with the plastic relay lever.

5 Relay Lever

• Installed position, refer to => [ Transmission Shift Lever/Relay
Lever, Installed Position ] Shift Mechanism Overview.

• Adjust the shift mechanism after installation. Refer to => [ Shift Mechanism, Adjusting ] Adjustments.

• From 03.07 the relay lever is plastic. Refer to => [ Plastic Relay Lever ] Description and Operation.

6 Shift Unit

• Consists of the shift shaft and shift cover.

• The components cannot be separated from each other.

• Can be removed and installed with transmission installed.

• Gearshift shaft adapted together with the revised reverse gear shift fork bearing - item 5 -=> [ Reverse Gear Shift Fork ] Shift Forks.

7 Bushing

• For the selector shaft.

• Removing and installing, refer to - item 16 -=> [ Bushing ] Transmission Housing.

8 O-ring

• Insert into the groove on the shift cover.

• Install lubricated with gear oil.

• Always replace

9 Cap

• For the transmission breather.

10 Retaining Washer

• For the relay lever.

• Not needed with the plastic relay lever.

11 Selector Shaft Seal

• Replacing, refer to => [ Selector Shaft Seal ] Selector Shaft Seal.
