Lumbar Support


Disable the airbag system before attempting any component diagnosis or service of the front seats, when equipped with front seat air bags. Disconnect the negative battery cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.

Removing






- Remove the seat from the vehicle and place it on a workbench. Refer to => [ Seat ] Seat.

- Remove the seat back. Refer to => [ Seat Back ] Seat Back.

- Remove the seat back cushion and cover. Refer to => [ Seat Back Cover and Cushion ] Seat Back Cover and Cushion.

- Remove the screws (2) securing the lumbar support handle mechanism and cable (1) to the outboard side of the seat back frame (3).






- Disconnect the lumbar support cable (3) from the pivot lever (2).

- Disconnect the lumbar support cable housing (8) from the top of the lumbar support (9) and remove the lumbar support handle mechanism and cable.

- Disconnect the spring (10) from the top of the lumbar support.

- Disconnect the two rods (5 and 11) from the plastic retainers (6) located on each side of the seat back frame (7).

- Disengage the lumbar support from the two vertical rods (4 and 12).

- Disengage the lumbar support from the horizontal rod (1) located near the bottom of the seat back frame and remove the lumbar support.

Installing






- Position the lumbar support (9) to the seat back frame (7) and engage the lumbar support to the horizontal rod (1) located near the bottom of the seat back frame.

- Engage the lumbar support to the two vertical rods (4 and 12).

- Connect the two rods (5 and 11) to the plastic retainers (6) located on each side of the seat back frame (7).

- Connect the spring (10) to the top of the lumbar support.

- Route the lumbar support cable housing (8) through the opening in the outboard side of the seat back frame (7) and connect the cable housing to the top of the lumbar support (9).

- Connect the lumbar support cable (3) to the pivot lever (2).






- Position the lumbar support handle mechanism and cable (1) to the outboard side of the seat back frame (3) and install the screws (2).

- Install the seat back cushion and cover. Refer to => [ Seat Back Cover and Cushion ] Seat Back Cover and Cushion.

- Install the seat back. Refer to => [ Seat Back ] Seat Back.

- Install the seat. Refer to => [ Seat ] Seat.
