Engine Oil Pump Chain Replacement
Special Tools Required
- Mount Pads 07AAK-STKA120
- Support Eyelet 07AAK-SNAA600
- Engine Support Hanger, A and Reds AAR-T1256

NOTE: Keep the oil pump chain away from magnetic fields.
Removal
1. Remove the drive belt Service and Repair.
2. Remove the cam chain Cam Chain Removal.
3. Remove the power steering pump. Do not disconnect the power steering hoses from the pump Engine Removal.
4. Attach the support eyelet with the support bolt Engine Removal.
5. Remove top the clips (A) from the front grille. Remove the brackets (B), then raise the seal (C) from the front grille.
6. Place the mount pads over the hood edge cushions (A), and align the pins with the clip hole (B). Remove the lids from both side of the cowl cover. Install the engine support hanger (AAR-T-1256), then attach the hook to the support eyelet. Tighten the wing nut (C) by hand to lift and support the engine/transmission.
7. Remove the oil pan Engine Oil Pan Removal.
8. Install the crankshaft pulley.
9. To hold the rear balancer shaft, insert the 6 mm long pin punch (Snap-on PPC108LA or equivalent) (A) into the maintenance hole in the balancer shaft holder and through the rear balancer shaft.
10. Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise to compress the oil pump chain auto-tensioner.
11. Align the holes on the lock (A) and the oil pump chain auto-tensioner (B), then insert a 1.2 mm (3/64 in) diameter pin (C) into the holes. Turn the crankshaft clockwise to secure the pin.
12. Remove the oil pump chain auto-tensioner.
13. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
14. Remove the oil pump chain guide.
15. Loosen the oil pump sprocket mounting bolt.
16. Remove the oil pump chain.
Installation
1. Set the crankshaft to top dead center (TDC). Align the TDC mark (A) on the crankshaft sprocket with the pointer (B) on the cylinder block.
2. Install the oil pump chain on the crankshaft sprocket with the center of the two colored link plates (A) aligned with the TDC mark (B) on the oil crankshaft sprocket.
3. Install the oil pump chain on the oil pump chain sprocket with the punch mark (A) aligned with the center of the three colored link plates (B).
4. To hold the rear balancer shaft, insert the 6 mm long pin punch (Snap-on PPC108LA or equivalent) (A) into the maintenance hole in the balancer shaft holder and through the rear balancer shaft.
5. Apply new engine oil to the threads of the oil pump sprocket mounting bolt (B), then tighten the oil pump sprocket mounting bolt.
6. Install the oil pump chain guide.
7. Install the oil pump chain auto-tensioner.
8. Remove the pin (A) from the oil pump chain auto-tensioner.
9. Install the oil pan Engine Oil Pan Installation.
10. Support the engine with a jack and a wood block under the oil pan.
11. Remove the special tools from the engine and vehicle.
12. Install the cam chain Cam Chain Installation.
13. Install the power steering pump Engine Installation.
14. Install the crankshaft pulley Service and Repair.
15. Install the drive belt Service and Repair.
