Removal





1UR-FE LUBRICATION: OIL PUMP: REMOVAL

1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE Removal

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:
* w/ Navigation System (for HDD):
After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

Waiting Time before Disconnecting Cable from Negative (-) Battery Terminal:





* When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

3. DRAIN ENGINE OIL Replacement

4. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT Service and Repair

5. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the radiator Removal.

6. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD

(a) Remove the intake manifold Removal.

7. REMOVE COOLER COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the cooler compressor Removal.

8. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP AND HOSE Removal

9. REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY

10. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

11. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH Removal

12. REMOVE AIR TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

13. REMOVE AIR SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1) Removal

14. REMOVE AIR SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Bank 2) Removal

15. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE

(a) for Engine Room LH Side:





(1) Disconnect the injector connector.

(2) Disconnect the 4 ignition coil connectors.

(3) Disconnect the 2 VVT sensor connectors.

(4) Disconnect the noise filter connector.

(5) Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.

(6) Disconnect the 2 camshaft timing oil control valve connectors.

(7) Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector.

(8) Disconnect the 6 clamps.

Disconnect the cooler compressor connector.





(b) for Engine Room RH Side:

(1) Disconnect the 2 camshaft timing oil control valve connectors.

(2) Disconnect the 4 ignition coil connectors.

(3) Disconnect the injector connector.

(4) Disconnect the 2 VVT sensor connectors.

(5) Disconnect the noise filter connector.

(6) Remove the bolt and ground wire.

(7) Disconnect the 6 clamps.

(8) Disconnect the power steering oil pressure switch connector and solenoid valve connector.





Disconnect the wire harness clamp.

Remove the bolt and disconnect the wire harness clamp bracket.





(c) Remove the bolt and disconnect the clamp and engine wire.

16. REMOVE OIL FILTER ELEMENT Replacement

17. REMOVE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY Removal

18. REMOVE OIL FILTER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and filter bracket.





(b) Remove the 2 O-rings.

20. DISCONNECT VANE PUMP ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the vane pump.

24. REMOVE FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the EFI fuel pipe clamp.





(b) Remove the 2 bolts and fuel tube Service Precautions.

25. REMOVE FUEL HOSE

(a) Remove the EFI fuel pipe clamp.





(b) Disconnect the clamp and remove the fuel hose Service Precautions.

26. DISCONNECT HEATER WATER HOSE





(a) Disconnect the 2 heater water hoses.

27. REMOVE NO. 4 WATER BY-PASS PIPE





(a) Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the No. 4 water by-pass pipe.

28. REMOVE WATER BY-PASS HOSE





(a) Remove the water by-pass hose.

29. REMOVE NO. 1 WATER BY-PASS HOSE Removal

30. REMOVE NO. 3 WATER BY-PASS PIPE





(a) Disconnect the hose.

(b) Remove the 2 bolts and water by-pass pipe.

31. REMOVE NO. 3 WATER BY-PASS HOSE





32. DISCONNECT NO. 8 WATER BY-PASS HOSE Removal

33. DISCONNECT NO. 5 WATER BY-PASS HOSE Removal

34. REMOVE WATER INLET HOUSING





(a) Remove the 3 bolts and water inlet housing.





(b) Remove the gasket from the timing chain cover.

35. REMOVE FRONT WATER BY-PASS JOINT





(a) Remove the 4 nuts, water by-pass joint and 2 gaskets.

36. REMOVE WATER PUMP PULLEY Removal

37. REMOVE NO. 1 IDLER PULLEY SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the bolt and idler pulley.

38. REMOVE FAN BRACKET ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 5 bolts and fan bracket.

39. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT TENSIONER ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the bolt, 6 mm hexagon bolt and belt tensioner.





40. REMOVE NO. 4 AIR TUBE





(a) Remove the 2 bolts and 2 wire harness clamp brackets.





(b) Remove the bolt, 2 nuts, 2 stud bolts and No. 4 air tube.

(c) Remove the gasket from the No. 4 air tube.

NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the installation surface of the gasket.

41. REMOVE NO. 3 AIR TUBE





(a) Remove the 2 bolts and 2 wire harness clamp brackets.





(b) Remove the bolt, 2 nuts, 2 stud bolts and No. 3 air tube.

(c) Remove the gasket from the No. 3 air tube.

NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the installation surface of the gasket.

42. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY Removal

43. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Remove the 14 bolts, seal washer, cylinder head cover and gasket.





HINT
Make sure the removed parts are returned to the same places they were removed from.

(b) Remove the 5 gaskets from the camshaft bearing caps (No. 2, No. 3).

44. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Remove the 14 bolts, seal washer, cylinder head cover and gasket.





HINT
Make sure the removed parts are returned to the same places they were removed from.

(b) Remove the 5 gaskets from the camshaft bearing caps (No. 1, No. 3).

45. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY





(a) Using SST, remove the crankshaft pulley set bolt.

(b) Temporarily install the pulley set bolt to the crankshaft until 2 or 3 threads are engaged.

(c) Using the pulley set bolt and SST, remove the crankshaft pulley.

46. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 26 bolts and nut shown in the illustration.





(b) Remove the timing chain cover by prying between it and the cylinder head and cylinder block with a screwdriver as shown in the illustration.

HINT
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the cylinder head, camshaft housing and cylinder block contact surfaces of the chain cover.

(c) Remove the gasket from the cylinder block.









(d) Remove the O-ring from the oil pan.

47. REMOVE WATER INLET PIPE

(a) Remove the water inlet pipe.





(b) Remove the 2 O-rings from the water inlet pipe.
