DTC Confirmation Procedure
NOTE:
Check that the following conditions are satisfied when using this procedure.
- Battery voltage > 10.5 V
1) Turn ignition switch to ON position for 10 sec.
DTC Troubleshooting
1.
Was "CVT System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to CVT System Check CVT System Check.
2.
Do you have SUZUKI scan tool?
YES -
Go to Step 3.
NO -
Go to Step 4.
3. Transmission range sensor circuit check for operation using SUZUKI scan tool
Turn off ignition switch and connect SUZUKI scan tool to DLC.
Turn ignition switch to ON position and check transmission range signal ("P", "R", "N", "D") on scan tool display when shifting select lever to each range.
Is applicable range indicated?
YES -
Check for intermittent trouble. Intermittent and Poor Connection Inspection
NO -
Go to Step 5.
4. Transmission range sensor circuit check for operation not using SUZUKI scan tool
Turn ignition switch to ON position.
Check that voltage between each transmission range sensor circuit and vehicle body ground respectively with select lever shifted to each range.
Taking transmission range sensor ("D" range) circuit as an example, is battery voltage indicated only when select lever is shifted to "D" range and 0 V for other ranges as shown in the Table for Step 4.
Check voltage at other circuits likewise.
Are check results satisfactory?
YES -
Check for intermittent trouble. Intermittent and Poor Connection Inspection
NO -
Go to Step 5.
5. Select cable adjustment check
Check select cable for adjustment. Procedures
Is it adjusted correctly?
YES -
Go to Step 6.
NO -
Adjust select cable and recheck.
6. Transmission range sensor adjustment check
Check transmission range sensor for adjustment. Transmission Range Sensor Inspection and Adjustment
Is it adjusted correctly?
YES -
Go to Step 7.
NO -
Adjust transmission range sensor and recheck.
7. Transmission range sensor circuit check
Turn off ignition switch and disconnect connectors from transmission range sensor and TCM.
Check for proper terminal connection to transmission range sensor and TCM connectors.
If connections are OK, check that transmission range sensor circuit (A1 - A4) is as follows.
- Insulation resistance of wire harness is infinity between transmission range sensor circuit terminal and each terminal at transmission range sensor connector.
- Circuit voltage of each transmission range sensor circuit is 0 - 1 V with ignition switch in ON position.
- Wiring harness resistance of each transmission range sensor circuit is less than 3 ohms.
- Insulation resistance between each transmission range sensor circuit and vehicle body ground is infinity.
Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 8.
NO -
Repair or replace defective wire harness.
8. Transmission range sensor check
Check transmission range sensor. Transmission Range Sensor Inspection and Adjustment
Is it in good condition?
YES -
Substitute a known-good TCM and recheck.
NO -
Replace transmission range sensor. Transmission Range Sensor Removal and Installation
