Cooling System Components, Body Side, Assembly Overview

• Spring clamps secure the coolant hoses to the radiator.

• Coolant Hose Connection Diagram. Refer to => [ Coolant Hose Connection Diagram ] [1][2]Cooling System.






1 Upper coolant hose

• From the distribution piece to the cylinder head

2 Radiator

• Removing and Installing, refer to => [ Radiator, Removing and Installing ] Service and Repair

• After replacing replace entire amount of coolant

3 Upper seal

4 Cap

• Check using cooling system tester (V.A.G 1274 B) and adapter (V.A.G 1274/9) => [ Cooling System, Checking for Leaks ] Testing and Inspection.

• The pressure release valve must open at a pressure of 1.4 to 1.6 bar

5 Expansion tank

• Perform a leak test on the cooling system using the cooling system tester (V.A.G 1274 B) and adapter (V.A.G 1274/8). Refer to => [ Cooling System, Checking for Leaks ] Testing and Inspection.

15 Coolant Fan 2 (V177)

• Removing and Installing, refer to => [ Coolant Fan and Coolant Fan 2, Removing and Installing ] Service and Repair

16 Bracket

• For connecting pipe => [ (Item 26) Bracket ] Service and Repair

19 Coolant Fan (V7)

• Removing and Installing, refer to => [ Coolant Fan and Coolant Fan 2, Removing and Installing ] Service and Repair

• For vehicles with A/C with radiator fan control module (J293)

• The radiator fan control module (J293) is integrated in the radiator fan (V7).

20 Lower coolant hose

• From connection for coolant regulator

21 O-ring

• Replace

22 Coolant fan control (FC) thermal switch (F18) , 3 Nm

• Only for vehicles without A/C

• for Coolant Fan (V7)

Switch temperatures speed 1:

• on: 92 to 97 °C

• off: 84 to 91 °C

Switch temperatures speed 2:

• on: 99 to 105 °C

• off: 91 to 98 °C

23 Wiring harness

• For the engine coolant temperature sensor on radiator (G83)

• for the radiator fan

• For the coolant fan control thermal switch (F18) (vehicles without A/C)

24 Engine coolant temperature sensor (on radiator) (G83)

25 O-ring

• Replace

26 Retaining clip

• Make sure it is secure

27 Upper coolant hose

• From the coolant distribution housing to the cylinder head
