2. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Hold the front of the V-bank cover sub-assembly and raise it to disengage the 2 clips on the front of the cover. Continue to raise the cover to disengage the 2 clips on the rear of the cover and remove the V-bank cover sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
Attempting to disengage both front and rear clips at the same time may cause the cover to break.
3. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
(a) Remove the 9 clips and cool air intake duct seal.
4. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
(a) Remove the 5 clips and engine room side cover LH.
5. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH
(a) Remove the 3 clips and engine room side cover RH.
6. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
7. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM Service and Repair
8. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE

9. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL Removal
10. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
11. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER
12. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
13. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH
14. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER
15. REMOVE FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION MEMBER PROTECTOR Removal
16. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER AIR GUIDE BRACKET
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and engine under cover air guide bracket.
17. DRAIN ENGINE OIL Replacement
18. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT Service and Repair
19. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID Removal
20. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET
(a) Remove the bolt, clip and No. 1 air cleaner inlet.
21. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
22. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 clamps and disconnect the vacuum hose.
(b) Remove the clamp and disconnect the vacuum switching valve connector.
(c) Remove the 2 bolts and air cleaner case sub-assembly.
23. DISCONNECT RESERVE TANK OUTLET HOSE
(a) Disconnect the reserve tank outlet hose.
24. DISCONNECT NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE
(a) Disconnect the No. 1 radiator hose.
25. DISCONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE
(a) Disconnect the No. 2 radiator hose.
26. DISCONNECT NO. 2 OIL COOLER INLET HOSE
(a) Disconnect the No. 2 oil cooler inlet hose.
27. DISCONNECT NO. 2 OIL COOLER OUTLET HOSE
(a) Disconnect the No. 2 oil cooler outlet hose.
28. DISCONNECT HEATER WATER HOSE INLET A
(a) Disconnect the heater inlet water hose A.
29. DISCONNECT HEATER WATER OUTLET HOSE A
(a) Disconnect the heater outlet water hose A.
30. DISCONNECT VACUUM HOSE ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the vacuum hose assembly from the hose clamp.
(b) Disconnect the vacuum hose assembly from the intake air surge tank assembly.
31. DISCONNECT NO. 2 FUEL VAPOR FEED HOSE
(a) Disconnect the No. 2 fuel vapor feed hose.
32. DISCONNECT NO. 3 FUEL HOSE
(a) Remove the 2 fuel pipe clamps.
(b) Pinch the fuel tube connector and then pull out the No. 3 fuel hose.
NOTICE:
* Check for any dirt and foreign matter contamination in the pipe and around the connector. Clean if necessary. Foreign matter may damage the O-rings or cause leaks in the seal between the pipe and connector.
* Do not use any tools to separate the pipe and connector.
* Do not forcefully bend or twist the nylon tube.
* Check for any dirt and foreign matter on the pipe seal surface. Clean if necessary.
* Put the pipe and connector ends in plastic bags to prevent damage and dirt contamination.
* If the pipe and connector are stuck together, pinch the tube between your fingers and turn it carefully to free it. Then disconnect the hose.
33. DISCONNECT NO. 1 FUEL HOSE
(a) Remove the 2 fuel pipe clamps.
(b) Pinch the 2 fuel tube connector and then pull out the No. 1 fuel hose.
NOTICE:
* Check for any dirt and foreign matter contamination in the pipe and around the connector. Clean if necessary. Foreign matter may damage the O-rings or cause leaks in the seal between the pipe and connector.
* Do not use any tools to separate the pipe and connector.
* Do not forcefully bend or twist the nylon tube.
* Check for any dirt and foreign matter on the pipe seal surface. Clean if necessary.
* Put the pipe and connector ends in plastic bags to prevent damage and dirt contamination.
* If the pipe and connector are stuck together, pinch the tube between your fingers and turn it carefully to free it. Then disconnect the hose.
(c) Lift up the retainer to release its lock.
(d) Pinch the 2 fuel tube connectors and then pull out the No. 1 fuel hose.
NOTICE:
* Check for any dirt and foreign matter contamination in the pipe and around the connector. Clean if necessary. Foreign matter may damage the O-rings or cause leaks in the seal between the pipe and connector.
* Do not use any tools to separate the pipe and connector.
* Do not forcefully bend or twist the nylon tube.
* Check for any dirt and foreign matter on the pipe seal surface. Clean if necessary.
* Put the pipe and connector ends in plastic bags to prevent damage and dirt contamination.
* If the pipe and connector are stuck together, pinch the tube between your fingers and turn it carefully to free it. Then disconnect the hose.
34. DISCONNECT NO. 1 COOLER REFRIGERANT SUCTION HOSE Removal
35. DISCONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
36. REMOVE BATTERY Removal
37. REMOVE NO. 1 BATTERY TRAY SUPPORT
38. REMOVE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY Removal
39. REMOVE BATTERY TRAY Removal
40. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET Removal
41. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM ECU COVER Removal
42. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS
(a) Remove the 3 connectors and connector clamp.
(b) Detach the claw and disconnect the No. 4 connector holder.
(c) Disconnect the 5 connectors and grommet from the ECM box.
(d) Remove the nut, and disconnect the battery positive (+) cable and clamp from the battery.
(e) Remove the No. 1 engine room relay block cover.
(f) Remove the nut.
(g) Disconnect the clamp, detach the 2 claws and disconnect the wire harness from the No. 1 relay block.
(h) Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground cable.
(i) Remove the bolt, and disconnect the clamp and ground cable.
(j) Disconnect the power steering wire harness.
(1) Remove bolt (A) to disconnect the earth wire from the bracket.
(2) Remove the 2 clamps to disconnect the wire harness from the bracket.
(3) Disconnect 2 connectors (B) and (C) from the power steering link assembly.
(4) Release the lock of connector (D) and disconnect connector (D) from the power steering link assembly.
(k) Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground cable.

60. DISCONNECT FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
61. REMOVE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
(a) Set the engine lifter.
(b) Remove the 4 bolts and disconnect the mounting member.
(c) Remove the 10 bolts and 2 nuts shown in the illustration.
(d) Operate the engine lifter to slowly remove the engine from the vehicle.
NOTICE:
Make sure that the engine is clear of all wiring and hoses.
62. INSTALL ENGINE HANGER
(a) Install the 2 engine hangers with the 2 bolts as shown in the illustration.
Engine Hanger Part No.:
Torque : 43 Nm (438 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf)
(b) Attach an engine sling device and hang the engine with a chain block.
NOTICE:
When hanging the engine, make sure to hang the engine with the chains at an angle of 50° or less. Otherwise, the engine or engine hangers may be damaged.

(a) Remove the 2 clamps and engine under cover sub-assembly LH from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

(a) Remove the 2 clamps and engine under cover sub-assembly RH from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.
67. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING DAMPER
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and 2 engine mounting dampers.
68. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR Removal
69. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH Removal
70. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR Removal
71. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal
72. REMOVE NO. 3 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR Removal
73. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT Removal
74. SEPARATE BREATHER PLUG HOSE Removal
75. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTORS Removal
76. REMOVE OIL COOLER TUBE
(a) Disconnect the wire harness clamp from the oil cooler tube.
(b) Remove the 2 bolts, nut, clamp and oil cooler tube.
77. REMOVE COMPRESSOR AND PULLEY
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
(b) Using an E8 "TORX" socket, remove the 2 stud bolts and compressor.
78. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY Removal
79. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY Removal
80. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SETTING BOLT Removal
81. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY Removal
82. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING MEMBER
(a) Remove the 4 nuts and rear engine mounting member.
83. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR ASSEMBLY Removal
84. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Using SST, hold the crankshaft.

SST : 09330-00021
(b) Remove the 10 bolts, drive plate spacer RR, drive plate and ring gear sub-assembly and crankshaft angle sensor rotor.
85. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 nuts, then remove the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly from the engine.
86. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR
(a) Remove the 2 engine mounting spacers.
(b) Remove the 2 nuts and 2 front engine mounting insulators from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.
